Manuscript, in a single hand, of a history of the family of Osborne, Dukes of Leeds. The manuscript begins with a genealogy of the Osbornes from the 16th century and traces their issue through Thomas Osborne, 4th duke of Leeds, and his appointment to chief justice in eyre of the king's forests north of Trent in 1761. Throughout, the author provides notable biographical details and professional accomplishments of the members of the family, including military, civic, and Parliamentary service. The volume also contains a eulogy to the memory of Mary, Thomas Osborne's wife. At the end of the manuscript is copied a letter from Leverland, dated 1773 May 17, presenting a copy of the manuscript to Osborne. The work is also prefaced by an address by Leverland to Thomas Osborne, written partly in gilt.
